Summary This job is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the Cold Room (Day Room) and Vestibule and for ensuring that product meets sizing specifications. There are two plant facilities that make up the Moses Lake Production Campus. The selected candidate for this role will begin their training at one of these facilities and then will be assigned to one of the two locations after training is complete. Key Responsibilities The Cold Room Operator, with direction from the Packaging Supervisor, works as a team member with other area personnel in order to support shift goals in the packaging of finished product, which includes tote dumping, length control, frozen waste, sanitation, food safety, and documentation necessary for record keeping. Must maintain current Powered Industrial Truck (Lift Truck) certification and ensure proper and safe operation of lift trucks and other material handling equipment at all times. Directs Cold Room and Vestibule operations and personnel, and maintains area support to achieve operational goals. Performs line checks as required or requested, including, but not limited to tunnels and intermediate lengths and ensures extra samples are taken for troubleshooting length problems. Controls blending (dumping) of bulk product to ensure a continuous level of line flow to reduce bulk inventory and meet quality specifications. In addition, ensures the proper handling of all tote tickets such as bulk fill and bulk dump. Monitors and controls generation of bulk product within specified parameters. Ensures proper utilization of grader screens to meet length requirements and to maximize recovery. Inspects and monitors equipment operation and reports any noises or conditions that could signal a breakdown to the appropriate personnel. Able to work safely with and troubleshoot the Chopper. Ensures necessary level of communication is maintained with the appropriate personnel.
