About The Position

PRIMARY SUMMARY: Under general supervision the Cold Head Machinist will set up and operate solid die headers that are fed by coiled wire stock that are primarily used in the manufacturing of metal fasteners. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential requirements represents the knowledge, skill, and/or ability. This document does not create an employment contract, implied or otherwise, other than an "at will" relationship. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned. Reasonable accommodation for disabilities may be made for one or more of the following: Sets up, adjusts and replaces specified tooling. Positions and secures heading wire on to stock feeding mechanism. Installs and adjust specific tooling at each station. Starts machine, observes operation, and inspects first run and sample work piece to ensure machining conforms to specifications. Utilizes calipers, micrometers, and gauging tools to perform inspection to ensure conformance, dimension, and tolerance levels are within specifications. Replaces worn tooling. Operates lathe and grinder to recondition or modify tooling when applicable. Performs machine adjustments and basic daily maintenance. Regulates and controls functions such as; machine rate, coolant flow, and lube oil levels. Performs Statistical Process Control (SPC) and verifies part samples to blueprint specification. Makes adjustments to the process as required. Reads Manufacturing Order (M.O) and/or blueprint specification to assure conformance to specification. Performs record keeping, data entry, housekeeping, and follows safety regulations. Attends all daily GAP meetings as required. Responsible for complying with the rules and regulations set forth by Federal, Local, and State government, LISI Aerospace, and HSE Procedures. Responsible for attending all training provided and for adhering to all HSE procedures, policies, and plans, conforming to reporting requirements and safe operating procedures at all times.Required to bring any known or suspected nonconformance for all company procedures or legal requirements to management’s attention immediately. Seek opportunities to improve our HSE performance by establishing objectives and targets, measuring progress, and reporting our results. Suggest waste elimination initiatives specifically related to the function and department such as recycling opportunities and elimination of paper waste. Perform other duties and responsibilities as required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and 2 or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Working knowledge of SPC.
  • Read and interpret blueprints or other job specifications.
  • Ability to make all inspections on machined parts using precision measuring equipment.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • knowledge of SPC, and departmental applications (Shop Floor System).
