Areas of Accountability All areas of accountability to be delivered with GRIT - our values of Generosity, Relationships, Integrity, and Teamwork Production Goals & Efficiencies Team Leadership & Development Safety & Quality Compliance Continuous Improvement/Strategy Essential Duties and Responsibilities Oversee all areas and personnel of the cold side of production including Cut Floor, Packaging, and Shipping; share leadership responsibilities with one other Cut Floor Supervisor Adhere to all HACCP and USDA requirements; maintain company’s SQF Certification by ensuring departments are audit ready Develop a strong knowledge of, and become a reputable resource for, equipment operation and processing best practices Monitor floor efficiencies, ensure quality standards are being met, and provide employee breaks and rotations, as needed Train, lead, and develop cold floor personnel; meet with and provide performance feedback to employees through New Hire Stay Interviews and Quarterly Conversations Address undesirable behaviors such as misconduct, poor performance, and value misalignments and thoroughly document correction actions taken Complete Exit Interviews upon notice of an employee’s intent to vacate role Regularly inform HR Assistant and/or Operations Manager of hiring needs; update staffing reports as needed Initiate pay increases and transfer requests; approve Paid Time Off (PTO) of direct reports Delegate and adjust work activities based on PTO requests and unexpected call-ins Complete daily production reports, respond to preventive and correction actions Report any accidents or injuries; communicate with and escalate concerns to Safety Trainer, as needed Work closely with Plant Maintenance and enter work orders to ensure equipment reliability that meets production and quality requirements Pass along new directions, operating standards, processes, and procedures presented by upper management Provide hands-on support and coverage in any area of the facility, as needed Ensure adherence with general housekeeping standards and ensure all areas are safe, clean, and organized Follow all company safety policies, practices, procedures, and improvement initiatives Comply with all regulatory compliance requirements including environmental and food safety Maintain regular and predictable on-site attendance Situations may arise that require employees to temporarily or permanently assume responsibility for tasks not specifically outlined in this job description. Employees may be requested to work additional hours and/or accommodate a heavier than normal workload.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years’ experience in a food manufacturing environment; supervisory experience, preferred
  • Knowledge of human-grade food production and techniques such as meat cutting and food safety, preferred
  • Interest in continuous learning and developing a working knowledge of company’s food processing equipment, material handling processes, and plant operations
  • High level of professionalism, confidentiality, interpersonal skills, and attention to detail
  • Demonstrate desirable behaviors such as attendance and adherence to FUI values
  • Ability to operate basic computer systems such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; Paycom experience, a plus
  • Advanced written and verbal communication with the ability to maintain accurate records
  • Strong sense of initiative and problem-solving with the ability to manage time/deadlines and delegate work
  • Willingness to work additional hours or perform work in other areas of the facility, as requested
  • Ability to read metric or standard measurements
  • Ability to work in a facility that processes hogs
  • Travel up to 5% annually (based on invitations for corporate trainings in Redwood Falls, MN)
  • Must be 18 years of age or older for insurance purposes
  • Occasionally perform hand and/or wrist movements
  • Frequently lift up to 100 pounds from floor to waist level
  • Frequently pull and/or push up to 100 pounds
  • Frequently bend at the knees and/or waist
  • Frequently turn and/or twist
  • Frequently climb stairs up to 15 feet
  • Stand up to 80% of the workday, perform desk duties 20% of the workday
  • Ability to tolerate varying environmental conditions including cold/freezing temperatures and wet/slippery conditions
