About The Position

This part-time role is designed for a technical expert who views specialty coffee as a ministry of hospitality and precision. While the Colleyville Campus Director manages P&L and growth strategy, the Specialty Coffee Manager owns the craft. You are responsible for ensuring that every cup served meets our highest campus standards through technical mastery, rigorous systems, and consistent team training. Position Summary: Reports to the Colleyville Campus Director. This role requires technical expertise in espresso science and the operational discipline to manage a high-volume environment that serves thousands weekly.

Requirements

  • A mature, growing Christian faith with a commitment to the church’s doctrinal beliefs and Compass constants.
  • A deep heart for hospitality ministry and an understanding of the coffee shop’s role in the church’s mission.
  • Regular participation in the life of Compass Christian Church.
  • 3+ years of experience with professional espresso equipment and manual coffee preparation is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to create and follow complex checklists and inventory systems.
  • Proven track record of team leadership in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Daily Calibration: Execute and oversee the daily "dial-in" procedure, adjusting grind size, dose, and yield targets to account for environmental variables.
  • Quality Control: Manage daily operations of a high-volume shop, ensuring that drink quality remains consistent during peak Sunday services and campus events.
  • Equipment Stewardship: Perform routine maintenance on professional espresso machines, grinders, and filtration systems. Coordinate with external vendors for complex repairs to ensure zero downtime.
  • Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs): Develop and enforce meticulous SOPs for station setup, milk steaming, beverage assembly, and station cleanup.
  • Inventory Ownership: Implement a foolproof inventory management system to ensure the shop never runs out of essentials, such as filters, beans, and milk.
  • Compliance: Maintain a shop that exceeds all local health department regulations and food safety standards.
  • Operational Reporting: Provide raw daily data regarding waste, sales, and inventory levels to the Colleyville Campus Director for financial planning.
  • Skill Certification: Recruit and train paid staff in the technical art of specialty coffee.
  • High-Capacity Hospitality: Train team members to provide exceptional service that reflects Christ's love during high-pressure weekend rushes.
  • Accountability: Delegate shift responsibilities effectively while maintaining the quality standards expected at the Colleyville campus.
  • Spiritual Environment: Lead staff in viewing operational excellence as an act of worship and stewardship.
  • Leader of Leaders: Capacity Building: Primary responsibility is recruiting, training, and empowering high-level adult volunteers and staff to be the front-line ministers to students.
  • Strategic Mentorship: Regularly meets with and develops the student team, providing ongoing feedback and annual reviews to ensure a high level of collaborative excellence.
  • Culture Catalyst: Intentionally cultivates an environment where leaders are trained to walk students through personal decisions for Jesus.
  • Visionary Teaching: Teaches in student environments on a strategic, "every now and then" basis to cast vision, model excellence for other leaders, and maintain a pulse on the student culture.
