The Hollings Cancer Center Community Outreach and Engagement (COE) Trial Liaison is a full-time study recruitment specialist who will help CPC Principal Investigators (PI) in developing and implementing trial recruitment initiatives for increasing awareness and study accrual for specific studies, which may include studies within the MUSC National Cancer Institute (NCI) Community Oncology Research Program (NCORP). It is important that the liaison can effectively communicate to internal and external stakeholders, health providers and patients/ community participants about HCC trial opportunities in a professional and culturally competent manner. The liaison will have a direct report to the CTO Administrative Director and will work closely with the HCC Program Leaders for Cancer Prevention and Control: Dr. Ashish Deshmukh and Dr. Tracy Smith, Developmental Cancer Therapeutics: Dr. Nancy Demore and Dr. John O’Byran, study Principal Investigators, and the HCC Office of Community Outreach and Engagement (COE), led by Dr. Marvella Ford. The Hollings Clinical Trials Office (CTO) oversees over 150 trials including cancer control trials sponsored under the NCI Community Oncology Research Program (NCORP). The Cancer Prevention and Control Program consists of 40 full members and many affiliate members, across a wide range of disciplines, expertise, and administrative departments across the Medical University of South Carolina. Program themes include a strong focus on 1) tobacco use and cessation, 2) cancer health disparities, 3) screening and early detection, and 4) cancer survivorship. This position will work with a wide range of clinical investigators to promote a robust and active cancer control portfolio of trials which meet the projected accrual goals.
