About The Position

The COE Triage Engineer is an extension of the COE (Customer Order Engineering) department. The role provides a more detailed upfront technical review of newly received or released orders. The intent is to improve our order acceptance process by 1) Driving clean order entry and processing prior to COE execution. 2) Increasing customer satisfaction by driving more upfront conversation on incoming orders and any engineering/design issues. 3) Providing a robust feedback loop to our sales teams regarding quotation issues/oversight. At a high level the Triage Engineering role will be responsible for completing the product lines internal review of all incoming direct field quotations, interacting with our sales teams to better define the engineering and manufacturing requirements for our orders and providing direction to the COE team, enabling efficient and streamlined order execution. A. Review incoming orders, inclusive of customer plans and specifications and all other relevant pre/post bid communications to drive clean and clear requirements for the order engineering team. B. Provide feedback to sales team regarding any major oversights impacting things such as equipment layout, missing control components, pricing, invalid configurations, etc. C. Support the negotiation of change notices required prior to transitioning an order to the COE team for engineering execution. D. Support the identification of the long lead material requirements and generating procurement demand. E. Develop clear hand-off instructions for the COE team to execute against their orders, eliminating the need to complete a thorough review of the incoming order information. F. Support the development of the COE team, providing guidance on customer interactions and executing against complex engineering requirements not fully defined in our automation systems. G. Maintain familiarity with product line engineering and application requirements, inclusive of electrical, electro-mechanical, programmable logic controllers and communication protocols. H. Manage large projects to completion within deadlines with little, or no supervision. I. J. K. Embrace and drive a continuous improvement work environment, challenging the status quo to drive business process improvements that will lead towards more autonomous work.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
  • Seven (7)+ years of engineering experience with electrical distribution and control products
  • Three (3)+ years as a COE/Application Engineer
  • Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future
  • Ability to interpret both customer specifications and electrical and mechanical drawings.
  • Utilization of substantial product knowledge for communication with sales, customers, engineering, and manufacturing personnel.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Previous experience and/or knowledge of electrical distribution equipment
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and other engineering and design software programs.
  • Working knowledge of N.E.C., IEEE, UL, and various local electric codes.
