About The Position

The MUSC Hollings Cancer Center Office of Community Outreach and Engagement seeks a Program Coordinator to work under the supervision of the Program Director to support project-specific objectives and activities, to include project coordination, monitoring and evaluation, data analysis, operations support, material and report development, patient navigation and others to support project goals and deliverables.

Responsibilities

  • Patient Navigation and Study Support Administers a study eligibility screener to identify patients who are eligible to participate in the study’s navigation intervention and, if a patient is eligible, administer the informed consent process to enroll the patient into the study.
  • Provides patient navigation services to guide the enrolled study participants to lung cancer screening in collaboration with the health care team to achieve targeted patient outcomes.
  • Identifies and address barriers to cancer screening.
  • Bridges the referral to outpatient providers with the patient to address issues and questions.
  • Responsible for documenting and reporting patient navigation processes and outcomes in relation to the study participants.
  • Analytic Support Provides analytic support to the Associate Director of Community Outreach and Engagement.
  • Provides preliminary analysis of data related to the MUSC HCC Office of Community Outreach and Engagement projects.
  • Community Outreach and Engagement Assists the Program Manager/Community Health Educator (CHE) with conducting a statewide train the trainer cancer education program and other community outreach and engagement activities, makes contacts and linkages with a wide variety of community organizations in South Carolina, schedules the meetings, orders food, drinks, and other supplies for the meetings, and completes premeeting, pre-test surveys and post-meeting follow-up surveys with the participants.
  • Travels, when applicable, to federally qualified health clinics, other medical clinics, churches, and other community outreach sites to provide cancer education to community residents and patients.
  • Coordination of Scientific Peer-Reviewed Publications In collaboration with the Associate Director, develops and coordinates research manuscripts for submission to scientific peer reviewed journals.
  • Prepares summaries of the research literature that are relevant to the topic and scope of each manuscript.
  • Support of Scientific Training Activities Working closely with the Associate Director and the Program Managers, provides coordination support for a summer undergraduate/high school cancer health equity research program held at MUSC. The program includes a cancer health equity research course, and work in laboratories/research offices with MUSC mentors, as well as cultural activities.
