About The Position

The Coding & Reimbursement Specialist at Texas Tech University is responsible for coding and billing patient interactions, managing assigned denials, and performing data entry. This role also involves educating providers on coding changes and trends, as well as attending departmental and provider meetings. The position requires a strong understanding of medical coding and terminology, particularly in an academic healthcare setting.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • A combination of coding and reimbursement or medical billing experience totaling two years
  • Experience in procedural and diagnosis coding
  • Current coding certification from AAPC or AHIMA
  • Knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding guidelines

Nice To Haves

  • Thorough working knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy
  • Knowledge of current third-party billing and collection regulatory guidelines
  • Prior professional customer service experience
  • Experience in a collaborative medical administration environment
