About The Position

As a work from home CQR Educator, you will be responsible for assisting in the efficient and effective design, development, and delivery of all CQR education components to the Central Coding Unit team, including strategic partners and other stakeholders as applicable. The CQR Educator is also responsible for thorough understanding of the CQR Quality Workplan and will ensure all education efforts promote compliance and awareness of the plan. Additionally, this individual will be a subject matter expert (SME) in ensuring compliance with national coding guidelines, CCU and company coding policies, and monitor governmental and commercial payer information for complete, accurate and consistent code assignments. The CQR Educator, in collaboration with CQR leadership, will work to identify opportunities for coder education via coder reviews, stakeholder feedback, and review of data analytics that identify educational opportunities, trends, etc. The CQR Educator will also collaborate with other external departments as needed to provide input on coding education opportunities and assist with creation of education materials to improve the accuracy, consistency, and efficiency of code assignment for reimbursement and reporting purposes. This individual will assist in training and support of medical coding staff through education forums, written coding resources, creation and maintenance of coding training materials and other duties as assigned. The CQR Educator will support the CCU team to achieve goals and objectives, continually looking for process improvements, and reporting operational results. This individual will foster an environment of teamwork and work excellence within the coding team and also be responsible for setting the tone of the Parallon HSC Central Coding Unit as a service organization, continuously seeking to understand, meet, and exceed customer expectations and needs.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of coding and/or reimbursement experience required. (Relevant education may substitute experience requirement).
  • Inpatient/outpatient professional fee coding experience required. Experience in multi-specialty coding strongly preferred
  • Coding certification through AHIMA or AAPC required. Extensive experience may be accepted in lieu of coding certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of medical terminology, pathophysiology and anatomy and physiology is preferred
  • Previous audit experience preferred.
