About the position
The Coding Provider Specialist at Park Nicollet plays a crucial role in ensuring accurate coding and billing for provider services across various healthcare settings. This position involves abstracting and entering charges, assigning appropriate codes, and conducting audits to support reimbursement processes. The specialist will contribute to enhancing patient care and experience by ensuring compliance with coding regulations and addressing denied claims effectively.
Responsibilities
- Abstract and enter charges for provider services in hospital inpatient/outpatient and ambulatory surgery settings.
- Assign appropriate CPT codes, ICD-10 codes, modifiers, and fees according to third-party payer regulations.
- Conduct retrospective chart documentation audits related to denied claims and provider requests.
- Ensure accurate and timely coding to facilitate appropriate reimbursement.
Requirements
- Coding diploma/degree or equivalent coding experience.
Nice-to-haves
- CCS, CPC, or RHIT certification
- Proficiency in operating personal computers and office equipment
- Experience with Microsoft Office applications
- Knowledge of medical records content and completion.
