Overview The Coding Integrity Assistant will handle a wide range of general administrative office duties for the coding integrity function and administrative support of the Coding Integrity team. The Assistant will answer phone calls, perform data entry, and resolve issues relating to provider office inquiries, incomplete/incorrect documentation, and medical records.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required. Associates degree preferred.
  • Two (2) years of experience in an administrative or medical office position required. Healthcare experience preferred.
  • Ability to use personal computers and associated software applications, especially Microsoft Office and Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including correct grammar and punctuation, as well as the ability to create correspondence, respond to requests in a timely manner, and facilitate the appropriate exchange of information.
  • Effective organizational and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects.
  • Competent and courteous telephone manners, with focus on serving the customer.
  • Understand the importance of maintaining the physical and technical security and privacy of protected health information (PHI).
  • Ability to work overtime as required.
  • Proven examples of displaying the IH values: Passionate, Caring, Respectful, Trustworthy, Collaborative and Accountable.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate medical record review
  • Schedule medical record review appointments by contacting provider offices, faxing required documentation, and managing electronic calendars with strong attention to detail.
  • Manage incoming calls, respond promptly to requests, and route or escalate issues appropriately.
  • Contact provider offices to obtain missing information or request additional clinical details.
  • Review incoming faxes, emails, paper documents, and Independent Health forms for completeness and document/flag items needing follow‑up.
  • Route incoming mail and faxes to the appropriate staff daily.
  • Scan and file Enhanced Annual Visit documentation.
  • Use email and fax communication to support accurate information exchange with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Prepare accurate mail merges for bulk mailings and coordinate timely distribution to network provider offices.
