About The Position

The position is a full-time remote opportunity within the Enterprise Revenue Cycle - Professional Coding Academy. The role involves collaboration with various leadership teams including Coding, IT, Org Development, Revenue Cycle, and Compliance. The primary responsibilities include presenting coding and documentation education, developing educational materials, identifying coder educational needs, and maintaining education schedules. The position also requires the development of web-based coding education programs and the creation of comprehensive training materials for trainers.

Requirements

  • Coding Associate (CCA) certification or equivalent from AHIMA.
  • Advanced training in Medical Coding Specialist.
  • Typically requires 5 years of experience in medical coding.
  • Expert knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding guidelines.
  • Advanced knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
  • Expertise in adult learning principles and educational program facilitation.
  • Highly developed computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Superior organization and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Present coding and documentation education, including in-person and virtual classes.
  • Support the development of coding educational presentations, tools, and documents.
  • Identify, trend, and report coder educational needs.
  • Collaborate with Professional Coding department leadership to enhance educational programs.
  • Stay current with adult learning concepts and apply them to education and training.
  • Develop and maintain web-based coding education programs.
  • Assign lessons to coders and track their progress.
  • Evaluate the success of educational offerings and modify as needed.
  • Create educational programs with defined objectives.
  • Complete all research, writing, and instructions for educational programs.
  • Provide 'train the trainer' sessions for Coding Supervisors and Coding Leads.
