About The Position

Should have the ability to work in conditions of frequent interruptions. Needs considerable initiative and judgement involved in collection and analyzing medical record data. Works under the supervision of the Medical Records Director performing duties in an area where procedures are standardized, but where frequent independent decisions are required. Help maintain a quality improvement system to assure effective utilization of hospital based on preestablished criteria. This will promote proper utilization of hospital resources to provide efficient cost effective, high quality patient care.

Requirements

• High School graduate or equivalent
• capable of following verbal or written instructions
• practice diplomacy in dealing with Compliance Officer, Case Management, Nursing, Medical Records personnel and the Medical Staff
• familiar with medical terminology
• able to communicate verbally and in written format with Compliance Officer, Case Management, Nursing, The medical staff, Review Organizations, Administration and others as indicated

Nice To Haves

• Experience
• experienced in the use of ICD-CM coding system or have clinical background (education)
• coding and computer skills
