About The Position

The Coding Apprentice assists with accurately entering CPT codes from encounter forms, whether electronic or paper. The role involves entering charge corrections based on coder review of documentation. The apprentice will reconcile patient lists from reports/worklists to ensure charges are obtained for each service rendered and report back to providers and/or administrators regarding missing or incomplete information. Additionally, the apprentice will accurately enter CPT codes into clinical information systems based on codes received from providers or certified coders, update the Charge Error Worklist to ensure accuracy of charges processed, and develop skills to provide cross coverage for all charge entry locations.

Requirements

  • Certified as a Coding Associate (CCA) by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) or a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) by the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) preferred.
