About The Position

The Coder Physician is responsible for reviewing medical records and performing coding on all diagnoses, procedures, DRG/APC, and charge codes. This role requires the use of the most accurate codes for reimbursement purposes, research, epidemiology, statistical analysis outcomes, financial and strategic planning, evaluation of quality of care, and communication to support the patient's treatment. The Coder Physician must maintain the confidentiality of patient records and procedures.

Requirements

• 5+ years of pro fee OB/GYN coding experience.
• Experience coding for Georgia facilities and familiarity with GA Medicaid guidelines.
• Epic experience.
• Experience with Optum or 3M encoder.
• Experience with edits and denials.
• Ability to work M-F with 75% of the shift between 8am-5pm eastern time.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Abstract, code, sequence, and interpret clinical information from various medical records.
• Assign correct principal and secondary diagnoses and procedure codes with accurate sequencing.
• Utilize technical coding principles and DRG/APC reimbursement expertise to assign appropriate codes.
• Abstract and code pertinent medical data into multiple software programs and/or encoders.
• Maintain compliance with external regulatory and accreditation requirements, and with State and Federal regulations.
• Extract pertinent data from health records and determine appropriate coding for reports and billing documents.
• Identify codes for reporting medical services and procedures performed by physicians.
• Track and document productivity in specified systems, maintaining productivity levels as defined by the client.
• Maintain a 95% quality rating.
• Perform duties in compliance with Company's policies and procedures, including HIPAA and compliance.
