The Outpatient Coder position at Omega Healthcare involves coding and abstracting clinical information from various medical records, including inpatient, outpatient, emergency department, and ancillary services.   • Abstract, code, sequence, and interpret clinical information from various medical records.
  • Assign correct principal and secondary diagnoses and procedure codes with accurate sequencing.
  • Utilize technical coding principles and DRG/APC reimbursement expertise to assign appropriate codes.
  • Abstract and code pertinent medical data into multiple software programs and encoders.
  • Follow official coding guidelines to review and analyze health records.
  • Maintain compliance with external regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as state and federal regulations.
  • Extract pertinent data from the patient's health record for coding reports and billing documents.
  • Identify codes for reporting medical services and procedures performed by physicians.
  • Enter codes into various computer systems based on client requirements.
  • Track and document productivity in specified systems and maintain defined productivity levels.
  • Maintain a 95% quality rating in coding accuracy.
  • Perform duties in compliance with the Company's policies and procedures, including HIPAA compliance.
  • Successful completion of an AAPC or AHIMA-approved Coding Certificate Program.
  • Minimum of two years of current production coding experience in NCCI Edits.
  • Credentials: CCS, RHIT, RHIA.
  • Experience with eCAC, EPIC, Meditech, Cerner, 3MHDM, 3M 360.
  • Experience with MS4, Invision, eAbstract.
