Family Health Centers of San Diego (FHCSD) is passionate about providing exceptional health care to all, especially underserved communities with limited health care options. Requirements

Associate degree, or higher, in healthcare administration, finance, accounting, business administration, medical coding, or related field required
CPC or CCS (Certified Coding Specialist) accredited certification required
Experience in the healthcare industry or outpatient medical clinics required
Or equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the skills, knowledge, and ability to perform the essential job duties, and which meets any required state or federal certification requirements.
Traveling between sites and other locations is occasionally required. Must have a valid California driver's license, an automobile, and proof of minimum levels of car insurance as required under California law, although limits of $100,000 are recommended. An acceptable driving record is also required. California law requires all drivers to obtain a valid California driver's license within ten days of establishing residency. Reasonable accommodation may be provided on a case-by-case basis. Mileage and other reimbursement governed by policy.
Intermediate level knowledge of applicable state and federal laws and regulations.
Intermediate skills in computer applications and software, including MS Office, Electronic Health Records, and others.

Nice To Haves

RHIT or RHIA certification preferred
Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

Lead and support the day-to-day operations of the coding department that has experienced an increase in the volume of medical coding due to the significant impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the residents that FHCSD provides healthcare-related services.
Lead assigned staff to include determining work procedures and overseeing assignment productivity.
Oversee coding, coding compliance and department process improvements.
Determine and monitor internal processes to ensure compliance with department procedures, and state and federal rules and regulations.
Perform other duties as assigned.
