About The Position

We are seeking an experienced inpatient coder with over 5 years of experience in pediatrics, NICU, PICU, cardiovascular, and transplant coding. This position is for a trauma 1 children's hospital that handles complex cases, with case values ranging from $1M to $3M. The ideal candidate must be well-versed in MS DRG and APR DRG assignment, and have extensive experience in acute care coding, trauma coding, and complex medical and surgical coding, particularly in cardiothoracic surgery and transplant procedures. The productivity expectation is to code 21 cases per 8-hour shift or $1.2M in a day, depending on the complexity of the case load. Candidates must also be experienced with Epic and 3M 360. This project is expected to last at least 4 months, with the possibility of extension. The schedule will be 8 hours a day, Monday to Friday, with initial training hours from 8am to 4:30pm CST, after which the schedule can be more flexible.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience coding complex acute care and trauma cases in pediatrics, NICU, PICU, and cardiovascular/cardiothoracic areas.
• Experience with MS DRG and APR DRG assignment.
• Proficiency in using Epic and 3M 360 software.
• Ability to commit to at least 4 months on the project.
• Availability to work 8 hours a day, Monday to Friday.
• Ability to ramp up productivity within 4 weeks.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
