Requirements

Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) certification required
2+ years of experience in medical coding and billing, preferably in anesthesia or a related surgical specialty
Strong knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding systems
Familiarity with anesthesia billing guidelines and modifiers
Experience with electronic health records (EHR) and medical billing software
Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills
Strong verbal and written communication abilities

Responsibilities

Assign appropriate CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes for anesthesia procedures and services
Review medical records and anesthesia reports to ensure accurate and compliant coding
Submit clean claims to insurance companies and manage the billing cycle
Stay updated on coding guidelines, payer policies, and regulatory changes affecting anesthesia billing
Collaborate with anesthesiologists and other clinical staff to clarify documentation when needed
Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and other healthcare laws
