Under general direction, supervises, plans, directs, and coordinates the Indio Police Department's Code Enforcement Unit; conducts research or special studies as directed; performs other related duties as required. The Code Enforcement Supervisor is the supervisory level classification responsible for coordinating, implementing and executing the operations of the Code Enforcement Unit; conducts research or special studies as directed.

  • Assesses needs and assists in the development and implementation of comprehensive training programs.
  • Assists with the preparation and administration of the Code Enforcement Unit budget.
  • Answers questions from the public by phone or in person.
  • Advises and provides Code Enforcement Unit liaising to other departmental staff.
  • Establishes positive working relationships with representatives of community organizations.
  • Participates in the development of policies and procedures as well as goals and objectives.
  • Maintains accurate documentation and case files on all investigations, inspections, and enforcement actions.
  • Possess an Associate's degree from an accredited college or university or have completed sixty (60) semester units or ninety quarter units of degree qualified coursework.
  • Possess three (3) years increasingly responsible experience in code compliance as a Code Enforcement Officer II or equivalent.
  • At least one (1) year of supervisory or lead experience.
  • Possession of a valid Class C California driver's license.
  • Certificate of Completion from a California P.O.S.T., PC 832 course.
