As a Code Enforcement Officer, you’ll spend a large portion of your day out in the field, solving problems, educating the public, and making Lake Havasu City shine.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 3-5 years of experience in customer service, interpreting municipal codes and zoning enforcement principles, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid Driver’s License of appropriate class.

Nice To Haves

  • Possession of the Code Enforcement Officer Level I certification issued by the Code Enforcement League of Arizona (CELA) is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills both in oral and written form and have the ability to communicate complex ideas.
  • Work cooperatively and effectively as a team contributor
  • Have strong attention to detail and excellent customer service skills.
  • Have the ability to receive the public in person and over the phone using tact and diplomacy.
  • Have experience with enforcement, permitting, and inspections of Short-Term Vacation Rentals.

Responsibilities

  • Receives and records complaints from the public, staff, and outside agencies regarding violations of municipal code, ordinances, standards, and regulations.
  • Conducts field investigations for reported violations of the municipal code, ordinances, standards, and regulations.
  • Prepares and maintains documentation of violations including securing photographs and other pertinent data.
  • Prepares and issues notices of violation and citations to property owners and other responsible parties according to applicable codes and regulations.
  • Conducts follow-up investigations to ensure continued compliance with applicable codes and ordinances.
  • Testifies in municipal court on civil and criminal code enforcement investigations.
  • Provides information to the public, staff and outside agencies concerning code enforcement questions.
  • Operates and maintains motor vehicles or other work-related equipment requiring a valid driver’s license
