Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the compliance of building codes and zoning regulations.
  • Conduct self-initiated and citizen-requested field inspections of properties.
  • Cite violations as necessary and enforce city ordinances.
  • Perform clerical work to support the Safe Neighborhoods staff.
  • Receive and direct calls, greet the public, and respond to inquiries regarding code regulations.
  • Independently prepare forms, letters, and reports.
  • Handle administrative processing of cases and document code concerns.
  • Research public records to identify property ownership.
  • Review and decipher legal documents including deeds.
  • Prepare required written notices for mailing and posting in accordance with Florida Statute 162.
  • Accurately manage records and maintain case records and lien files.
  • Process fine and lien payments.
  • Self-initiate code compliance activities and respond to citizen concerns.
  • Perform follow-up inspections to verify code violations have been corrected.
  • Operate a City vehicle and maintain accurate, detailed records using a computer.
  • Participate in community meetings and neighborhood initiatives.
  • Attend seminars and workshops to stay current on code compliance laws and procedures.
