About The Position

The Code Compliance Officer is responsible for investigating, addressing, and enforcing city ordinances to protect the health and safety of Allen's citizens. This role involves conducting inspections, responding to complaints of code violations, and facilitating investigations related to illegal dumping and tampering of water services. The officer will also ensure compliance with health and sanitary requirements for food establishments and provide administrative support as needed.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree plus one (1) year of relevant work experience.
  • Knowledge of City rules, regulations, policies, and procedures, particularly codes and ordinances.
  • Familiarity with project management principles and practices.
  • Understanding of the Texas Commission of Environmental Quality (TCEQ) rules and requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Code Enforcement Officer level 1 license or ability to obtain within six (6) months of employment.
  • Experience in customer service and conflict resolution.

Responsibilities

  • Enforces City codes and ordinances for sign, zoning, property maintenance, and swimming pool violations by conducting inspections and investigations.
  • Responds to complaints about code violations by notifying residents and establishments, conducting investigations, and issuing citations.
  • Investigates violations of illegal dumping and tampering of water services, gathering evidence for court cases and coordinating the removal of hazardous materials.
  • Assists the public by answering inquiries and providing information on departmental and City policies and procedures.
  • Provides administrative services by writing notices and citations, generating reports, and maintaining files and records.
