Job Description Summary This is an off-campus work study opportunity. Students will work with COCOA House student attendees, parents, community members, and area schools to build an environment that fosters young people to become: imaginative and critical thinkers, lifelong learners, participants in a diverse global community, responsible and involved citizens, collaborative and quality workers. Department: Off-campus, Kenney Community Center Location: COCOA House, 869 Stanley St. Sch'dy Student Supervisor: Will Rivas/Ajay Goncalves Work Available: Days, evenings Pay Rate: $9.70/hr

Requirements

  • Interest and ability to work with elementary school aged children
  • Ability to work cooperatively and productively with volunteers, school district staff, parents, and community members
  • Ability to communicate effectively and demonstrate sensitivity to others as well as respond to critical incidents and act swiftly in an emergency situation

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity and experience with diverse populations strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Regular, weekly shifts at COCOA House, during which work-study students will assist with one-on-one tutoring of 3rd-5th grade students
  • Supervise academic enrichment activities
  • Maintain site rules (e.g. disciplinary and safety procedures)
  • Assist with field trips to local learning sites (e.g. museums, libraries) and/or Union College
  • Work on special projects that arise throughout the year.
