About The Position

This position as a Cocktail Server is for a passionate food service individual who will provide an exceptional experience to our guests. The role involves maintaining complete knowledge of and complying with all departmental policies, service procedures, and standards, including FAME and LQA guidelines. The Cocktail Server will anticipate guests’ needs, respond promptly, and acknowledge all guests, regardless of how busy it may be. Positive guest relations must be maintained at all times, and the server should be familiar with all hotel services, features, and local attractions to accurately respond to guest inquiries. The position also requires resolving guest complaints to ensure satisfaction and monitoring the cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned work areas. Knowledge of menu items, liquor brands, beers, and non-alcoholic selections is essential, as well as understanding the characteristics of wines and champagnes available by the glass. The server must strictly abide by state liquor regulations and maintain knowledge of table setups, room capacity, hours of operation, menus, price ranges, and dress codes. Additionally, the server will be responsible for obtaining and securing an assigned bank and maintaining knowledge of P.O.S. systems.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent vocational training certificate.
  • Minimum of 18 years of age to serve alcoholic beverages.
  • 1-year experience as a Cocktail Server, Food Server or Host/Hostess.
  • Fluency in English, both verbal and non-verbal.
  • Experience in bartending and handling cash.
  • Certification in an alcohol awareness program.
  • Certification of previous training in liquor, wine and food service.
  • Food handling certificate.
  • Certification of CPR.
  • Ability to input and access information in the property management system/computers/point of sales system.
  • Compute basic arithmetic.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies/service procedures/standards.
  • Anticipate guests’ needs, respond promptly and acknowledge all guests.
  • Maintain positive guest relations at all times.
  • Be familiar with all hotel services/features and local attractions/activities.
  • Resolve guest complaints, ensuring guest satisfaction.
  • Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned work areas.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of all menu items, liquor brands, beers and non-alcoholic selections.
  • Maintain knowledge of the characteristics and description of every wine/champagne by the glass.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of designated glassware and garnishes for each drink.
  • Abide by state liquor regulations, particularly those prohibiting service to minors and intoxicated persons.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of table/seat/station numbers, proper table set ups, room capacity, hours of operation, menus, price range and dress code.
  • Obtain assigned bank and ensure accuracy of contracted monies.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of P.O.S. (MICROS) and manual systems.
