About The Position

Upon being hired for this position, you will enter a 90-day Part-Time Probationary status, working up to 40 hours per week. After completing the probationary period, you will become eligible for Full-Time status with benefits. Essential Duties: Greet guests hospitably and serve them efficiently providing proper food and beverage service. Learn and describe menu items to guests including chef specials. Suggest wine and other beverages. Responsible for standard table set-up procedures and cleanliness of the dining room. Other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Applicants must be at least 18 years of age due to A.B.C. § 4.1-307
  • 1 - 2 years server experience in a full service restaurant.
  • Excellent public contact skills to include tact, courtesy and patience.
  • Ability to Meet the standards listed below
  • Satisfy customers under all circumstances
  • Communicate effectively
  • Read and write, perform basic mathematical computations and memorize the food and beverages offered
  • Learn and communicate relevant dining information to guests
  • Physical requirements include but are not limited to: Bending, lifting, stooping
  • Carrying trays weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Extensive use of stairs.
  • Successful candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a current Williamsburg James City County food handler’s card and TIPS® certification; applicants with an active card and certification should be prepared to present both during the interview process.
  • Maintain an upbeat attitude and a positive, enthusiastic mindset.
  • Greet guests, employees, managers, and supervisors with a warm smile and friendly demeanor.
  • Always treat everyone with respect and work cooperatively with all colleagues and management.
  • Report to work as scheduled and on time
  • Adhere to established uniform and appearance policies.
  • Perform assigned tasks accurately and on time.
  • In accordance with Virginia A.B.C. § 4.1-225 Colonial Williamsburg prohibits employment of anyone in an alcohol serving position who has been convicted of a felony, any crime involving moral turpitude (lying, cheating, or stealing), or a drug-related offense within the past five (5) years.
