About The Position

The Cocke County School Based Mental Health Liaison (SBMHL) program provides direct mental health services within the Cocke County school system. The role focuses on enhancing the learning environment for children at risk of emotional, behavioral, or substance abuse issues by offering individual consultations to teachers, training, and direct services to students. The position requires collaboration with families and school staff to develop Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and promote healthy learning environments.

Requirements

• Master's Degree in a human services field such as counseling or social work.
• Two years of experience working with children with emotional or behavioral problems or adolescent substance use prevention.
• Experience leading groups and trainings.
• Coursework in cultural diversity, human development, mental illness treatment, and trauma.
• Licensed or licensed eligible to practice counseling.
• Ability to effectively counsel children and families and work within a team.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with the Re-Education Philosophy or willingness to acquire training.
• Bilingual skills are encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual, family, and group counseling services.
• Conduct mental health assessments and evaluations.
• Participate in IEP and other school-related meetings.
• Provide training and education to teachers, school staff, and students.
• Maintain documentation standards as per HRMC and CARF requirements.
• Meet productivity standards and maintain an active caseload of therapy clients.
• Demonstrate a positive work climate and promote harmonious relationships with co-workers.
