About The Position

Set up, operate, and monitor cobots specifically designed for welding tasks. This loading parts, programming the cobot's welding path, inspecting weld quality, and performing minor adjustments to ensure consistent and accurate welds while working alongside the Cobot in a safe and collaborative manner. Starting Hourly Pay Rate: $20.00 (plus $1.00 shift differential, if applicable)

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Welding certification
  • Welding skills: Experience with different MIG welding.
  • Basic programming knowledge: Familiarity with Cobot programming software to create welding paths.
  • Mechanical aptitude: Understanding of mechanical principles and ability to troubleshoot basic machine issues.
  • Attention to detail: Ability to consistently maintain high quality standards in welding.
  • Safety awareness: Adherence to safety protocols when working with robots and welding equipment.
  • Safety sensitive position - ability to work in a constant state of alertness and a safe manner.
  • Ability to STOP-THINK-ACT and work safely.
  • Ability to work overtime and weekends as required based upon the needs of the business.
  • Ability to work on a rotating shift.
  • Ability to work rotating job stations.

Responsibilities

  • Machine set up including movement and placement of Cobot where needed and ensuring proper alignment with the weld fixtures.
  • Set up and manage torches and safe operating parameters.
  • Program using the Cobot interface to create weld paths and sequences based on the blueprints of the fixtures.
  • Monitor the Cobot welding process during operation, identifying and addressing errors and deviations.
  • Movement and placement of parts into fixture and subsequent removal after weld.
  • Visually inspect welds for quality ensuring proper penetration and bead appearance.
  • Identify and report welding defects using prescribed method (OEE, spreadsheet, etc.)
  • Perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting on Cobot, including wire feeding, nozzles replacement and minor issues such as sensor malfunction or programming errors. Coordinate with maintenance to address more complex issues.
  • Work in a safe and efficient manner using all personal protective, safety equipment and devices that are required, in accordance with all STW documentation (if STW is not developed for any process within this job, proper training techniques must be followed).
  • Be actively involved in Continuous Improvement; promote and sustain any and all CI, 6S and STW activities.
  • Contribute to a team effort.
  • Maintain an organized and clean work environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.
