About The Position

The Selection Worker position at Cobb involves assisting with the selection of birds at six weeks of age based on conformation, physical attributes, and family data provided by the computer. The role requires engaging in various tasks related to the selection process and maintaining biosecurity and animal welfare standards. The work schedule is Monday through Thursday, with occasional Fridays, and the hours are from 5:20 am to 3:20 pm. The position is located in Strawberry Hill, Monticello, KY, and reports to the Senior Supervisor of the Farm.

Requirements

• Must reside in the United States to be considered for an interview.
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 300 pounds occasionally.
• Good communication skills to accurately convey opinions and concerns.
• Willingness to adhere to biosecurity and animal welfare guidelines.

• Previous agricultural or production experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the selection of approximately 2700 pedigree birds daily by identifying gender, catching, scanning wing band number, and auditing market birds for wing bands.
• Assist with properly identifying the coop birds are assigned to.
• Washing/sanitizing approximately 100 coops daily via commercial pressure washer on wet, slick floors.
• Maintain clean foot pans in assigned boot room and weekly sanitation of selection breakroom and all equipment used during selection process.
• Assist in set-up for selection by loading empty coops into house, placing catch frames in pens for easier bird access, hanging of lights for better visual, set up of scales and scanner, making coop labels, placing coops in pens and running needed cords.
• Assist with moving birds from brood house to feed conversion or dissection and wash/disinfect vehicles.
• Properly euthanize weak/ill birds in accordance with company policy.
