About The Position

Starting wage - $18 per hour plus additional shift differential for evenings, nights and weekends. This position collects data in the feed conversion houses by using measuring instruments and electronic devices. This position prepares houses for the next flock placement. Other duties may be assigned. Priority consideration will be given to applicants at this facility, as well as priority for internal candidates impacted due to plant closure or job elimination Priority consideration will be provided to internal applicants first. Applicants with previous agricultural or production experience will be considered preferred. Applicants must reside in the United States to be considered for an interview.

Requirements

  • Must use safe lifting techniques.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move 25 pounds , and occasionally up to 50 pounds , items such as cases of Synergize, supplies, etc; required to occasionally use wheeled dollies to lift and/or move up to 500 pounds of feed, supplies, etc.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand majority of shift on concrete; walk; sit; use hands to handle or feel objects and controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; climbing/ladder usage; stoop/bend up to 1000 times per day; repetitive hand/wrist movements while dissecting birds with scalpel, knife or other cutting instrument; talk or hear; drive a vehicle within the farm complex.
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision; distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception; and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Must have good communication skills to accurately convey opinions and concerns.
  • Required to work on wet, slippery surfaces and work in hot, dry, extreme dusty, wet and cold environments.
  • Safety goggles, safety glasses, face shield, chemical gloves, cutting gloves, waterproof apron, and rubber boots are required.
  • Must wear company provided facial covering.
  • Ear plugs will be used as needed.
  • NIOSH approved N95 particulate respirators will be worn as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Collect Data and Perform House Checklist within Feed Conversion Houses performing the following duties: weigh chickens into and out of their cages; record and add feed to feeders as needed; collect data with pen and paper and/or on a computer or tablet; dispose of dead birds as instructed; feed birds according to schedules; clean and disinfect equipment; house set-up; perform routine housekeeping duties; segregate birds according to line and sex as instructed; remove and place birds in cages according to schedules; examine birds for signs of illness and report any problems to lead or manager; monitor controls and thermostats that regulate temperature and humidity of the poultry house; perform simple math as part of recording information according to instructions such as bird weight, feed, added feed, and mortality; repair, align, and construct cages, pens or equipment (feeders, water lines, lights, vents, etc)
  • Set up and prepare house for incoming flocks.
  • Collect lab samples
  • clean, disinfect, and haul coops
  • maintain foot bath, hand sanitizer, hydro-foamer, sweep, mop, and other general cleaning
  • properly euthanize birds in accordance with company (10%)
  • The jobsite is a biosecure environment which requires showering, changing clothing and footwear before entering the facility.
  • Appropriate clothing and footwear are provided by the Company.
  • No jewelry may be worn on the jobsite except for medical ID jewelry and body piercings covered by appropriate clothing.
  • Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.).
  • Must be willing to sign and abide by the Company Biosecurity and Company Animal Welfare Guidelines.
  • TM is expected to follow all applicable safety policies and procedures. These include but are not limited to Hazard Communication, Respiratory Protection, LOTO and Personal Protective Equipment.
  • TM is expected to identify, address and mitigate safety related risks.
