About The Position

The Coatings Process & Compliance Technician supports the integrity, stability, and regulatory compliance of coating and metal finishing processes at Sub Source. This role is responsible for chemical process control, laboratory testing, wastewater monitoring, and documentation necessary to maintain NADCAP accreditation and ISO 9001:2015 certification. This position ensures coating processes operate within validated parameters and remain compliant with customer, regulatory, and industry requirements for aerospace and industrial applications.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required; Associate degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, or related technical field preferred.
  • Experience in powder coating, metal finishing, chemical processing, or industrial laboratory environments preferred.
  • Familiarity with NADCAP requirements preferred.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 standards preferred.
  • Understanding of titration methods, pH control, and chemical handling procedures.
  • Knowledge of wastewater treatment systems is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow documented procedures.
  • Ability to work independently in a regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Comfortable working in both laboratory and production environments.
  • Ability to safely handle chemicals while wearing required PPE.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine testing of pretreatment systems, chemical baths, and coating processes.
  • Conduct titrations, pH testing, concentration analysis, and required chemical adjustments to maintain approved operating ranges.
  • Monitor and record process parameters to ensure adherence to documented procedures and customer specifications.
  • Identify process drift and communicate necessary adjustments to maintain stability.
  • Assist in troubleshooting coating-related process issues.
  • Monitor and test wastewater treatment systems to ensure environmental compliance.
  • Maintain documentation supporting discharge permits and regulatory reporting.
  • Ensure proper chemical handling, storage, and disposal in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Support internal and external audits related to process controls and environmental systems.
  • Maintain accurate, traceable laboratory logs and chemical usage records.
  • Ensure documentation supports audit readiness at all times.
  • Assist in NADCAP audit preparation and responses.
  • Support document control activities, including procedure updates and record retention.
  • Collaborate with production to improve chemical efficiency and process consistency.
  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction and chemical optimization.
  • Support implementation of process improvements.
  • Participate in safety initiatives and uphold company safety standards.
