Nucor Steel Arkansas is seeking a leader in the position of Nucor Coatings Manager. This Department Manager level position is responsible for leading the pre-paint (coil coating) complex and reports directly to the General Manager. Job duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: Cultural leadership and values stewardship — Lead by example in embedding Nucor’s cultural values across the division, with safety as the foundation, fostering strong teamwork, ownership, and innovation through visible leadership, high expectations, and consistent follow-through. Production and operations leadership — Lead day-to-day operations of the pre-paint line while shaping mid- and long-term operating strategy, ensuring safe, stable, and efficient production while meeting throughput, quality, and delivery commitments. Commercial partnership and customer focus — Partner closely with commercial, technical services, and product management to align production capabilities with customer needs, support new product development, and respond effectively to market and customer requirements. Quality and process excellence — Drive consistent, first-time quality through disciplined process control, standard work, and continuous improvement; ensure coating performance meets internal standards and customer requirements. Performance and financial oversight — Own operational KPIs, including yield, uptime, cost, and productivity; manage operating budgets and contribute to capital planning with a strong focus on returns, asset utilization, and cost discipline. Analytical and strategic problem-solving — Apply operations acumen and leadership to evaluate complex operational challenges, develop effective strategies, and implement solutions that enhance safety, quality, and profitability. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Requirements

  • Previous steel or industrial manufacturing experience
  • Minimum 5 years supervisory, management, or leadership experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree or similar technical degree
