Inspects coated material for defects and conformance to WAM visual specifications and WTMs by performing the following duties. What you'll do Visually examines and feels surface of rubber coated or adhesive material to detect defects such as bond failure, scratches, bubbles, and other blemishes. Verifies conformance of coated material to dimensional specifications. Records all defects on defect log. Ensures defect log accompanies all finished coils. Communicates with Coating Line Operators and Supervisors. Completes Nonconforming Condition Report (NCR) in the event of excessive defects. Retrieves Job Sheet/Standard Manufacturing Procedure (SMP) from Plexus and reviews for setup procedures. Uses micrometer to measure material and glue thickness of in-process and sample materials. Maintains coating records by documenting line speed, thickness, chemical mixtures, bond results, etc. in Plexus. Assists in line setup including responsibilities of back flush, material changeovers, and assurance to Job Sheet/SMP. Assists in finished coil removal and startup of new coils. Enters information from labels of new master coils and rubber, topcoat/release coating, and/or adhesive drums into Plexus for inventory and traceability purposes. Obtains labels for finished coils from Plexus. Labels finished coils by listing footage, material grade, and date. Assists in startup, shut down, and changeover of coating line. Cleans tools, equipment, machines, and work area. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
