About The Position

EA is seeking a highly motivated Mid- to Senior-Level Project Manager to join our growing Coastal Resilience practice. This role is ideal for an experienced professional who combines deep technical expertise in coastal and nearshore systems with strong project management, client leadership, and regulatory navigation skills. In this role, you will lead multidisciplinary teams delivering coastal resilience, ecosystem restoration, climate adaptation, and nature-based solutions across the Pacific region. Projects may include shoreline stabilization, wetland and dune restoration, sediment management, nearshore infrastructure protection, and climate vulnerability assessments for public and private sector clients. This position offers the opportunity to shape project strategy, mentor staff, strengthen client relationships, and contribute to the continued growth of EA’s coastal resilience portfolio. You will also provide cross-disciplinary leadership on a variety of environmental projects as needed. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Coastal/Ocean Engineering, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field (Master’s preferred)
  • 10+ years of progressive experience delivering coastal, nearshore, or climate resilience projects
  • Demonstrated project management experience (scope, schedule, budget, client coordination)
  • Strong understanding of coastal processes, shoreline protection, habitat restoration, and climate adaptation
  • Experience navigating federal, state, and local permitting frameworks
  • Experience working with agencies such as USACE, NOAA, DoD, and/or Pacific-region clients (e.g., Hawaii, Pacific Islands)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to travel and perform fieldwork as needed (travel is sporadic regional travel with occasional overnights)
  • Note: This position requires specific driving duties. You must be able to pass a motor vehicle records check required by our insurer.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional licensure (PE, PG) or PMP certification
  • Experience with nature-based solutions and living shorelines
  • Experience with stakeholder engagement, including work with Native Hawaiian or other Indigenous communities
  • GIS, CAD, and/or coastal/hydrodynamic modeling experience
  • Proven success in business development and winning work
  • Established presence in Hawaii (other West Coast locations considered)

Responsibilities

  • Manage complex coastal resilience projects from proposal through completion, including scope, schedule, budget, and quality control
  • Serve as Project Manager or Deputy Project Manager on large, multidisciplinary efforts
  • Ensure compliance with EA’s project management, financial, and quality standards
  • Provide technical oversight for coastal engineering, ecosystem restoration, and nature-based solutions
  • Lead or oversee design and permitting for projects involving shoreline stabilization, wetlands and dune restoration, sediment management, and nearshore infrastructure protection
  • Guide adaptive management and climate resilience strategies addressing sea level rise, erosion, and storm impacts
  • Lead permitting and regulatory coordination with federal, state, and local agencies
  • Apply knowledge of key regulations (e.g., Clean Water Act, Coastal Zone Management Act, NEPA/HEPA, Endangered Species Act)
  • Support environmental documentation, impact assessments, and agency consultations
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships across public and private sectors
  • Lead or support proposals, scopes of work, cost estimates, and interviews
  • Identify follow-on work and new coastal resilience opportunities
  • Lead and mentor multidisciplinary teams across engineering, science, and planning
  • Foster collaboration among staff, subconsultants, and stakeholders
  • Support staff development and long-term growth of the practice
