About The Position

Wilmington Health is seeking a Nurse Practitioner specializing in Podiatry Foot Care to provide general patient care of the foot and ankle, including diagnosis, treatment, and consultations to patients of all ages in a collaborative environment. The role involves serving as a specialized advanced practice provider who provides comprehensive foot and ankle care, including diagnosing conditions, prescribing treatments, performing minor procedures, and educating patients on preventative care. The Nurse Practitioner will function independently to perform age-appropriate history and physical examinations for complex, acute, critical, and chronically ill patients, order and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe treatment modalities, and assist with surgical care as necessary. The position requires collaboration with physicians and multidisciplinary team members, facilitating patient transitions within healthcare settings, and educating patients and families on preventative and continued care for various conditions impacting the foot and ankle.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited NP or PA Program.
  • Current valid North Carolina NP or PA Licensure and Certification.

  • Minimum of one year’s experience in an advanced practice role.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive foot and ankle care, including diagnosing conditions and prescribing treatments.
  • Perform age-appropriate history and physical examinations for complex, acute, critical, and chronically ill patients.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic and therapeutic tests relative to patients’ age-specific needs.
  • Prescribe appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment modalities.
  • Implement interventions to support patients in regaining or maintaining physiologic stability.
  • Assist with the provision of surgical care in accordance with regulations.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of interventions.
  • Facilitate patient transitions within and between healthcare settings.
  • Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary team members by making appropriate referrals.
  • Educate patients and families on preventative and continued care for diabetes, circulatory issues, and other conditions impacting the foot and ankle.
