About The Position

Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center (NHRMC) in beautiful Wilmington, North Carolina, is seeking a Movement Disorders outpatient neurologist to join their practice. The new movement specialist will join two existing movement disorder providers and will have the option to perform DBS programming. Novant Health Neurology in Wilmington is home to 37 care providers, specializing in a wide variety of services including stroke, neuromuscular, epilepsy and seizures, headaches, movement disorders, and intensive care. This is a very busy practice with one movement disorders neurologist and two APP seeing a full schedule of 90% movement disorders patients. The large catchment area results in a very diverse population of movement disorders seen in clinic, with a very high percentage of clinical practice focused solely on movement disorders. Proficiency in DBS is highly needed and supported, and there is a botulinum toxin clinic supported with dedicated staff for prior authorizations. The practice also benefits from multispecialty neurology support with headache, epilepsy, neuroimmunology, and neuromuscular subspecialists within the practice. The position includes 4 days of clinic and 1 day of administration, with no hospital call as the hospital has inpatient neuro hospitalists, a stroke center, and a neuro ICU. Additionally, there is a full-time neuropsychologist, clinical pharmacist, and therapist within the neurology practice. Wilmington offers a variety of activities including historic downtown, Thalian Hall performing arts center, beaches and water activities, fishing, nightlife, golf, tennis, and great restaurants. The community hosts many family-oriented events, festivals, and activities, and area schools are recognized as some of the top in the state, with the local university providing further educational opportunities.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of medicine required
  • Completion of an accredited residency program required
  • Completion of an accredited fellowship program specific to medical specialty for specialty physicians
  • Current MD license in appropriate state
  • Board certification or eligibility
  • Current DEA license required
