About The Position
Research Assistant to synthesize, purify and characterize specialty ionic liquids. The successful candidate will hold at least an Associate’s Degree and be a continuing student majoring in Chemistry or Biology. Hiring for multiple positions.
Requirements

- be a continuing student majoring in Chemistry or Biology.
Responsibilities
- Synthesis of functionalized imidazolium, pyrrolidinium and other types of specialty ionic liquids bearing sulfonylimide and other anions.
- Purification of ionic liquids using standard organic procedures.
- Structure confirmation of ionic liquids using Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy.
- Water content determination of ionic liquids using Karl Fischer Titration.
- Measurement of temperature dependent viscosity and conductivity of ionic liquids.
- Measurement of density.
- Measurement of thermal profiles using Differential Scanning Calorimetry.
- Maintaining a laboratory notebook with records of all procedures, observations and results.
- Compiling data and delivering oral and poster presentations at local and national scientific meetings.
- Write up of all experimental procedures, results and analyses for publication in peer-reviewed journals.
