About The Position

MARCH is seeking instructors for the specific courses of Introduction to Archeology and Introduction to Preservation of Historic Interiors. The certificate program is also looking to develop and offer elective courses on environmental preservation practice and issues of climate change and resistance, as well as other elective topics as yet to be developed. Courses in the Historic Preservation Program are taught as either ten-week 2-credit or five-week 1-credit courses in virtual, hybrid, and in-person models. The program also offers one-day or weekend-long workshops. Please visit https://preservation.rutgers.edu/ to see examples of courses and workshops offered by the program. Within their cover letter, applicants should please specify which course(s) they believe they are qualified to develop and teach and why: Introduction to Archeology; Introduction to Historic Interiors; Methods of Climate Resilience in Historic Preservation. Alternatively or in addition, applicants interested in teaching an elective course not mentioned here should include a brief (no more than a paragraph) description for a course proposal that they would be interested in developing in collaboration with MARCH and teaching. Applicants should have an MA in Historic Preservation, History or a related field; advanced, up-to-date practical and theoretical experience and knowledge of historic preservation practice and issues in the Mid-Atlantic.
