About The Position

The Boys Lacrosse, Varsity Head Coach is responsible for planning, directing, and supervising all phases of the total Varsity Lacrosse Program in accordance with the MIAA, Tri-Valley League, Athletic Department, and School policies. The coach will oversee the physiological and skill development of student-athletes, ensuring that each participant reaches their maximum potential through a structured program of skill development and learning. This position reports directly to the Athletic Director and works in liaison with the High School Principal. The position is expected to be filled by a coach for the 2025 season and is subject to sufficient participation to support the coaching role. The coach may also be required to drive students to and from athletic events when traveling with 14 or fewer student-athletes.

Requirements

  • Dedication to the School, Student-Athlete, and Athletic Program.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the sport and ability to demonstrate and teach individual skills.
  • Ability to motivate student-athletes to reach their maximum potential.
  • Professional appearance and conduct.
  • Prior experience as a Varsity Lacrosse Head Coach preferred.
  • Certification in CPR, First Aid, or equivalent preferred.
  • Employment as a member of the teaching staff preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Organize, coach, and administer the total Varsity Lacrosse Program.
  • Follow the policies and procedures in the Athletic Department Staff Handbook.
  • Adhere to the adopted policies of the Bellingham School Committee.
  • Teach all skills while following sound coaching practices, including health and safety aspects.
  • Manage equipment inventory.
  • Enforce disciplined and sportsmanlike behavior.
  • Encourage maximum student participation and positive behavior.
  • Assist in planning inter-school scrimmages and non-league games.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the Assistant Coach.
  • Oversee safety conditions of the facility or assigned area, including locker rooms.
  • Promote public relations through the news media and within the community.
  • Support student-athletes in their search for college scholarships.
  • Develop a scouting system during the season for effective game planning.
  • Create flexible and adaptable game plans.
  • Prepare an end-of-season report summarizing the season, records, award winners, and recommendations for program improvements.
