About The Position

The Croton-Harmon UFSD is looking for a JV Girls Lacrosse Head Coach. The head coach must have substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport and serve as an appropriate role model for student athletes through his/her instructions and actions. The position involves organizing and supervising a total sports program, maintaining discipline, and providing guidance and safeguards for each participant.

Requirements

  • Ability to organize and supervise a total sports program.
  • Previous successful coaching experience in assigned sport.
  • Necessary coaching certifications, including First Aid, CPR, AED, and concussion.
  • Acceptable character development, self discipline, self confidence, and pride of accomplishment in the student athletes.

Responsibilities

  • Instruct athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy and physical training.
  • Upgrade knowledge and skills through coaching clinics, observations, consultation, etc.
  • Maintain discipline, adjust grievances and work to increase morale and cooperation.
  • Assist the athletic director in scheduling, providing transportation and requirements for tournament and special sport events.
  • Prepare for scheduled sport events or practices and adhere to scheduled facility times.
  • Coordinate programs with maintenance and school employees.
  • Provide documentation to fulfill state and system requirements concerning physical examinations, parental consent and eligibility.
  • Provide proper safeguards for maintenance and protection of assigned equipment sites.
  • Advise the athletic director and recommend policy, method or procedural changes.
  • Serve as a mentor to each athlete.
  • Provide training rules and any other unique regulations of the sport to each athlete.
  • Initiate programs and policies concerning injuries, medical attention and emergencies.
  • Complete paperwork on all disabling athletic injuries on proper forms and submit to the athletic office.
  • Direct student managers, assistants and statisticians.
  • Determine discipline and delineate procedures concerning due process when enforcement of discipline is necessary.
  • Assist athletes in their college or advanced educational selection.
  • Recommend equipment guidelines as to type, style, color or technical specifications.
  • Be accountable for all equipment and collect the cost of any equipment lost or not returned.
  • Arrange for issuing, storing and reconditioning of equipment and submit annual inventory and monitor equipment locker.
  • Secure all doors, lights, windows, locks, and set alarm before leaving the building if custodians are not on duty.
  • Instill in each player a respect for equipment and school property, its care and proper use.
  • Organize parents, coaches, players and guests for preseason meetings.
  • Promote the sport within the school through recruiting athletes who are not in other sports.
  • Promote the sport and team outside the school through social media, news media, etc.
  • Maintain good public relations with the news media, booster club, parents, officials.
