About The Position

Responsible for coaching and overseeing all aspects of a High School team. This includes organizing and leading practices, coordinating team activities, developing player skills, and promoting a positive team culture. The coach will work closely with student-athletes, assistant coaches, parents, and school administrators to foster a supportive and competitive environment that encourages academic success, sportsmanship, and athletic excellence.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 1 or more years of experience coaching at the high school level required
  • Valid teaching license by Colorado Department of Education or valid CHSSA Coach certification required
  • CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications required before coaching assignment begins
  • Lead for racial and educational excellence and work to dismantle systems of oppression and inequity in our community, along with believing in and supporting all students so they feel seen and heard with access to high quality education.
  • Live and work with a permanent home address in Colorado while working with us.
  • Have the ability with or without accommodations to meet the physical demands of the position.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and conduct regular team practices, focusing on skill development, strategy, and teamwork.
  • Coordinate team schedules, including games, scrimmages, tournaments, and travel arrangements.
  • Provide individualized instruction to players to enhance their technical skills, physical conditioning, and mental preparedness.
  • Evaluate player performance and progress, offering feedback and guidance for improvement.
  • Collaborate with assistant coaches to assign roles, delegate responsibilities, and ensure effective communication within the coaching staff.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive team culture that promotes sportsmanship, respect, and camaraderie among players and staff.
  • Serve as a role model for student-athletes, promoting academic excellence, integrity, and character development both on and off the field.
  • Communicate regularly with student-athletes, parents, school administrators, and the athletic department regarding team activities, expectations, and policies.
  • Ensure compliance with all school, district, and state regulations governing athletics, including eligibility requirements, safety protocols, and code of conduct.
  • Represent the school and program positively at all times, both within the school community and in interactions with external stakeholders.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in coaching, sports science, and athlete development.
