About The Position

Promote sportsmanship and foster good character in student athletes. Provide for the safety and welfare of all participants. Supervise students in practice areas, locker rooms, busses and at all times during the season. Exercise patience, tolerance and diplomacy in relations with all players, parents, co-workers, contest officials and spectators. Interscholastic activities are an extension of the classroom and as such, your actions, behavior and interactions with our student athletes should be reflective of this.

Requirements

  • Valid Arizona Teaching Certificate OR Valid Arizona Substitute Certificate OR Valid Arizona Coaching Certificate (Sport Specific)
  • NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching certificate (at employee's expense)
  • Fundamentals of Coaching Course OR Coach Level 1 (If using to qualify for varsity head coach position in lieu of teaching/coaching certificate) Which includes: NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching, Protecting Students from Abuse, Sudden Cardiac Arrest
  • NFHS Concussion certificate
  • Concussion in Sports Course
  • ATC Student-Athlete Health & Wellness certificate (must review PowerPoint and sign a document affirming PowerPoint has been reviewed)
  • Act on Facts Suicide Prevention Training OR NFHS Student Mental Health and Suicide Prevention certificate
  • Student Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Course
  • Current CPR w/AED (On-line classes are not accepted; EMT license supersedes this requirement)
  • Current First Aid (On-line classes are not accepted; EMT license supersedes this requirement)
  • Current Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • Bloodborne pathogen training after hire by TUSD Risk Management Department
  • Proof of immunity to rubeola (measles) and rubella (German measles) or proof of MMR immunization
