About The Position

The Financial Coach is responsible for educating students and parents of the importance of managing financial resources and planning for the future. Conducts workshops, meets with students individually, and tracks student progress. Develops on-line resources for students to access. Provides financial aid assistance with federal and state programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 3 years of work experience in a related field (i.e. Financial Aid, Financial Planning, Banking, etc.) required

Responsibilities

  • Provide information to students and parents about financial aid opportunities (i.e. grants, loans, scholarships, waivers, etc. ) individually and in groups.
  • Provide students and families with options and alternatives for financing educational goals.
  • Provide group sessions in a computer lab to assist students with the submission of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and to learn about the HCC financial aid process.
  • Initiate internal and external outreach programs to increase the number of students applying for financial aid (i.e. information session, College Goal Sunday, etc. ).
  • Establish partnerships with agencies which are able to assist our students and provides workshops and resources (i.e. debt management, tax preparation, financial literacy, etc. ).
  • Initiate a program to assist students who do not meeting Satisfactory Academic Progress.
  • Work in collaboration with the Successful Learning Intervention Program developed by counselors.
  • Assist students in creating personal short-term (semester) and long-term budgets (through program completion and loan repayment).
  • Work collaboratively with Success Course faculty (i.e. personal budget, financial literacy week, etc. ).
  • Participate in developing strategies for securing additional sources of funding to meet student’s financial need.
  • Coordinate and participate in special events and seminars to promote financial awareness in the community.
  • Assist with recruitment, outreach, and retention activities.
  • Participate in developing and implementing default management strategies.
