Computer and Electronic Product Manufacturing

As a Tools & Fixtures System Engineer Co-Op, you will gain immersive, hands-on experience in the development and support of manufacturing test fixtures for medical devices. You'll work closely with the system engineering team, tool owners, and cross-functional partners to ensure our fixtures and processes are robust, reliable, and ready to scale for production. Over the course of your term, you'll not only support ongoing projects but also own pieces of design and validation work-making tangible contributions to next-generation products.

  • Assist in the design, assembly, and validation of test fixtures used in medical device manufacturing, working under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Support in drafting and updating requirements, design documentation, and test protocols for fixture projects.
  • Take responsibility for small subsystems or components within larger fixture builds, gaining exposure from concept through integration.
  • Help with verification testing and data analysis, ensuring fixtures meet performance and compliance requirements.
  • Collaborate with fixture vendors and internal software/hardware teams on integration, debugging, and upgrades.
  • Participate in process risk assessments (PFMEA) and contribute ideas to improve fixture reliability and usability.
  • Build strong cross-functional relationships with Manufacturing, Quality, and R&D teams to learn about the full product lifecycle.
  • Present project updates and findings to the systems engineering team, developing confidence in technical communication.
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering.
  • Coursework or hands-on project experience with electronic test equipment (Power Supplies, DMMs, oscilloscopes, etc.) and an interest in troubleshooting circuits, hardware, and software integration.
  • Exposure to QA and verification principles, particularly within structured lab courses, internships, or student projects, with curiosity to learn about regulated environments such as medical devices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset, with a willingness to investigate issues, dig into data, and propose creative solutions.
  • Motivated learner who can take initiative, while also thriving in collaborative, cross-functional teams with guidance from mentors.
  • Developing technical communication skills, with the ability to document work clearly and present findings to peers and engineering teams.
  • Open to leveraging modern tools and emerging technologies (such as AI-assisted workflows) to increase efficiency and improve engineering processes.
  • Programming experience in Python and/or C# for test automation, data processing, or basic fixture control.
  • Ability to perform statistical analysis of test data (e.g., 3-sigma evaluation, data visualization, trend identification).
  • Familiarity with using AI tools to improve efficiency, such as generating documentation templates or assisting with data analysis.
  • Strong interest in applying software and data skills to hardware and manufacturing test environments.
