This is an open posting for Electrical/Instrumentation Engineering Students interested in co-op positions at our Aurora, North Carolina Phosphate facility. This is a temporary, full-time, hourly paid position open to current students who will be returning to their studies once this work term is complete. This position is not available for remote work. Work will be both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions. Outside the office, standard work wear will consist of hard hats, safety boots, safety glasses and ear plugs, with other items as needed; these items will be provided.

Requirements

  • Must be currently enrolled and have completed at least 1 year of an undergraduate degree in Electrical/Instrumentation Engineering or equivalent related program at an accredited post-secondary institution AND returning to full-time studies after the work term.
  • Demonstrate positive safety behavior and leadership.
  • Willingness to learn and gain knowledge and experience through training.
  • Strong interpersonal teamwork and communication skills.
  • Motivation to set and achieve goals, take initiative, and nurture project forward.
  • Ability to multi-task and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the US without sponsorship.
  • Must be able to work at heights, outdoors, and around potentially hazardous chemicals.
  • Must be comfortable and physically capable of entering and working in a confined space.
  • Must be able to hear and understand audible alarms, changes in noise levels of rotating equipment and portable radio communications.
  • Must be familiar with Microsoft's Office Suite.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Department with various duties, including surveying the settings in the circuit breakers.
  • Develop project estimates for potential new projects.
  • Develop engineering specifications for electrical projects.
  • Work with electricians and contractors on large projects that are in progress at the site.
