About The Position

This job opportunity is not currently available for hiring; however, this requisition was established for candidates to express interest in the above position, with a view to progress formally once we are in a position to do so. The R&D Co-op experience will consist of a robust induction plan followed by a 6-month program across various facets of our Research & Development organization within the Sports Medicine Franchise at S+N. The position will be based in Andover, Massachusetts with some remote work flexibility. This role reports into the Systems Verification Engineering team and focuses on advancing the manual and automated testing practice at Smith + Nephew. The individual in this role will work closely with the rest of the team to apply mature evaluation and integration to the development of novel medical devices related to Sports Medicine. Requirements

  • Be currently enrolled in an undergraduate Engineering program (junior or higher level) in Electrical & Computer, Biomedical, and/or related Engineering field at an accredited university.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
  • High learning agility
  • Strong written and verbal communication and technical writing skills
  • Analytical approach to problem solving.
  • Experience in the medical device field or other regulated field
  • Design exposure to embedded software development
  • Basic understanding and experience with formal documentation processes
  • Knowledge of statistical methods and tools (Minitab, JMP, R, etc.)
  • Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint experience
  • Completed Circuits Design and Computer Engineering basic classes
  • Practiced using MATLAB or LabVIEW in engineering or science courses
  • Ability to assess technical issues and develop solutions utilizing an analytical approach to problem solving

Nice To Haves

  • Major GPA of 3.40 or above preferred
  • Previous internships or Co-ops preferred

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with test engineers and verification manager to complete specifically identified projects tasks including manual and automation test generation
  • Present project conclusion to senior leadership
  • Support ad-hoc exploratory testing and pre-planned integration dry-run testing for systems and software pieces and report defects
  • Generate, maintain, revise, and execute test protocols, and generating reports
