About The Position

Eaton's IS AER FED division is currently seeking a Co-op: Manufacturing Engineering. The Primary function of this assignment is to support manufacturing engineering in improving our Aerospace manufacturing process through the introduction of new technologies, implementation of lean manufacturing practices, application six sigma methodologies, fixture design and process documentation. Our Co-op's go through a series of assignments during their co-op's. During the first 2 months of the Co-op assignment the candidate will be supporting our Manufacturing engineering department through the design of fixtures and tooling in accordance with our production system. Our Co-op's will be trained in GD&T and will be expected to apply this to all drawings. This assignment will provide the co-op a hands-on environment to learn how to properly engineer, design, and manufacture products that will be used by professional aerospace assemblers to build aircraft sensors and accessories. The co-op will be able to see their designs come to fruition in a matter of days or even hours as they utilize the aerospace standard in 3D modeling software to design incorporated with professional grade 3D printers to create their designs or be sent for manufacturing in our in-house state of the art prototype machine shop. There is no better way to learn how to design a product then being responsible not only for producing it but also by being required to see through it into the production system to ensure that it works as designed on a regular basis. In the second 2 months of your Co-op Assignment, the candidate will be working on increasingly challenging fixture and tooling designs while being trained in lean manufacturing. The candidate will be working on projects that effect and increase the throughput of our work cells. This will include process documentation and fixturing improvements in conjunction with other members of our Lean manufacturing event process. In the last 2 months of the co-op assignment, the candidate will be assigned their own product line to gain understanding in the day-to-day function of a manufacturing engineer in an industrial setting. The candidate will be assisted by the full time Manufacturing Engineer of the product line with any questions or concerns. This Co-op assignment will allow the candidate to interface with all functions of our business (Quality, Operations, Planning, Purchasing, and Design Engineering) in a real- world manufacturing environment and learn what manufacturing engineering is on a day to day basis. By the end of this assignment the co-op will be able to lead the manufacturing engineering efforts of the product line they are assigned to entirely by themselves. This will showcase not only what it takes to be a product line manufacturing engineer but also give the co-op the experience needed to solve nearly any production issue through the skills and knowledge they gained over their 6 months at Eaton.
