About The Position

Works under direction of department foreman to prints, sketches or verbal instructions. Machine product from various materials to blue print, sketches, work instructions and work procedures.

Requirements

  • Education/Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent - Trade School Diploma preferred. Minimum two years of hands- on experience in the set-up and operation of CNC and Manual Machine Tools. Experience with the methods and devices to lift heavy irregularly shaped objects.
  • Knowledge: Shop mathematics, able to read complex blue prints, Understand order of machining operations and good manufacturing practices.
  • Skill: Able to correctly use and read precision measuring tools (i.e. Micrometers, Vernier Calipers and indicators) Ability to control the machine tool to hold specified tolerances. Verbal and written communication skills to convey information within the organization. Ability to solve practical manufacturing problems with little guidance Basic computer skills (i.e. data entry, editing, searching). Ability to organize and prioritize daily tasks.
  • Physical/Environmental Demands: Possess manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items, works with the fingers, and perceives attributes of objects and materials. Be able to lift heavy weight, carry at least 50 pounds and move, pull or push materials of this magnitude. Work near moving mechanical parts. Periodically exposed to hazards of a serious nature requiring care in the use of machinery as well as the use of personal protective equipment.

Responsibilities

  • May be required to setup and operate less complex machine tools as: cutoff saw, belt sander, drill, lathes and milling machines.
  • Responsible for machining and inspecting product to insure it is within specifications.
  • Able to operate CNC
  • Perform all machining operations, including but not limited to Milling, Turning, Facing, and Drilling, Reaming, Threading, Tapping, Deburring and assembly of product.
  • Perform basic machine maintenance as instructed.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Fully responsible for the quality of their own work.
  • Comply with all company safety policies, procedures and practices.
  • Participate in efforts to achieve department and company goals.
  • Work overtime as required.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
