About The Position

Volkswagen Group of America’s 6-Month Co-op Program offers undergraduate students the opportunity to gain immersive, hands-on experience in the automotive industry over an extended period. Designed for driven, curious, and highly motivated students, the program provides meaningful exposure to real projects that contribute directly to Volkswagen’s success. Throughout the co-op term, participants develop both professional and technical skills through on-the-job training, mentorship, and collaboration with industry experts. This experience allows students to deepen their understanding of their field, strengthen their career readiness, and make a tangible impact within one of the world’s most innovative automotive companies. The Inventory Control Co-op will join the Logistics Inventory Control Team at the Chattanooga Plant, which plays a strategic role in ensuring inventory accuracy across operations. This role focuses on predictive analytics and process improvement, supporting the development of an early warning system for inventory discrepancies. The Co-op will analyze large data sets, uncover trends, and apply statistical methods to anticipate potential issues before they occur, enhancing overall inventory stability and plant efficiency.

Requirements

  • A rising college Junior, Senior or recent graduate
  • Strong GPA
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong preference for Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science or related degrees.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365, Excel, Power BI, Power Automate, Access, and Copilot
  • Exposure to SAP for inventory flow and material tracking.
  • Experience with data visualization, statistical modeling, and process automation tools preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze historical and real-time inventory data to identify trends, anomalies, and potential risks.
  • Develop and refine predictive models using statistical and analytical techniques to forecast discrepancies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand inventory workflows, data sources, and part consumption patterns.
  • Create dashboards and visualizations in Power BI to communicate insights and model results.
  • Support root cause analysis of inventory variances and recommend corrective actions.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen inventory accuracy and cost efficiency.
