Locally, Apex primarily supports municipal clients with projects relating to: Drinking Water, Wastewater, Stormwater, Traffic & Transportation, Construction Management, Site Civil Engineering, Emergency Management Services, Environmental Infrastructure, Asset Management, Owner's Project Management (OPM). Co-op students typically support a project team with design, permitting, and construction administration activities. Co-op work primarily consists of office work but may also include a field work component. The type of work and extent of responsibility depends on the aptitude of the student but is also substantially affected by the time of year and current project schedule. Field work may include GPS and/or construction observations.

Requirements

  • Valid driver's license.
  • Currently enrolled in or have completed civil engineering or equivalent courses such as Statics and Solid Mechanics, Materials for the Built Environment, Environmental Engineering: Principles, Technology, and Sustainability.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
  • Experience in AutoCAD and GIS mapping software (Esri products) preferred.
  • Solid technical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support a project team with design, permitting, and construction administration activities.
  • Perform office work related to engineering projects.
  • Participate in field work, including GPS and construction observations.
